Detroit Tournament and Promotion

Over the weekend UC had eight members compete in the Annual Detroit Tournament. Everyone fought hard and did well.
Congrats to Kazuhiko Bessho for his promotion to yondan!
Congrats to Jyoshu Tsushima who took first place in the nidan individuals category!
Congrats to team B for their fantastic matches, their fights inspired everyone to do their best as well!

Let's all train hard together, so next year we can do even better!

Special Congrats to Rachel

This is something that I should have posted a while ago, but I guess it's better late than never. Over the weekend, we had the Johnson Cup tournament in Columbus and Rachel Sawicki received the Fighting Spirit award for the women's division. For those not in the know, the Fighting Spirit award is given in some tournaments for those that, despite not placing, showed excellent fighting spirit and great technique during their fights.

While it's great to win tournaments and all, one thing we try to achieve is good sportsmanship and great spirit worthy of the UC Kendo club, as well as the regional and national federation. Personally, I've received compliments on our club dynamics at tournaments and stuff. I've seen that great spirit in everyone this year, so keep up the good work and lets hope we can all reach our goals for next year!!!!

Finals Week

We will still have practice finals week (next week.) Danessa will be there, so who ever wants to work out some of the stress from all those tests/projects, please come!

Congratulations to everyone from UC kendo that participated in the ECUSKF Fall promotion exam. Everyone passed for their perspective ranks! Keep up the good work, and continue to work hard!

ECUSKF Fall Promotional Test

The fall promotional test will be held at OSU this year on November 20th. If you want to test for a rank, the information packet can be found on Miami Valley kendo club website.
