Special Congrats to Rachel

From Chris George:
This is something that I should have posted a while ago, but I guess it's better late than never. Over the weekend, we had the Johnson Cup tournament in Columbus and Rachel Sawicki received the Fighting Spirit award for the women's division. For those not in the know, the Fighting Spirit award is given in some tournaments for those that, despite not placing, showed excellent fighting spirit and great technique during their fights.

While it's great to win tournaments and all, one thing we try to achieve is good sportsmanship and great spirit worthy of the UC Kendo club, as well as the regional and national federation. Personally, I've received compliments on our club dynamics at tournaments and stuff. I've seen that great spirit in everyone this year, so keep up the good work and lets hope we can all reach our goals for next year!!!!

Shoryuhai

With the help of Fujita sensei, hopefully UC can secure a spot at the Shoryuhai this year at Harvard. So we don't miss two or three days of class, we will be flying, and using the club budget to offset the cost of airfare. So. We need everyone to participate in the fundraiser next week (maning the booth and baking cookies) to help us reach our goal. Contact Danessa with your available times to help out!

Options for canceled room

Room C has been closed due to water damage and is being fixed. So talked with the CRC guy. Currently, Tuesdays will remain the same, Thursday will be in MPR A 9:30pm-10:45pm, Sundays 10am-12pm MPR B. He has given me a list of times that A and B are available if we want to, but there are no evening times Monday. Monday... time frame could be 1pm-5ish, or we could do Wednesday 8:30pm-10:45pm in either A or B. Let me know what you guys think as soon as possible so I can contact him and secure a spot. Otherwise we will be Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday until further notice.

So, options are:
1.
Monday: afternoon (1pm-5ish)
Tuesday: 9pm-10:45pm
Thursday: 9:30pm-10:45pm
Sunday: 10am-12pm

2.
Tuesday: 9pm-10:45pm
Wednesday: 8:30pm-10:45pm
Thursday: 9:30pm-10:45pm
Sunday: 10am-12pm

3.
Tuesday: 9pm-10:45pm
Thursday: 9:30pm-10:45pm
Sunday: 10am-12pm

Give me a vote, 1,2 or 3 and I'll let them know so I can secure a spot.

Room C

Unfortunately, multipurpose room c is closed for maintenance. So, Mondays and Thursdays we will try to commandeer one of the squash courts for practice. If you can't find us, give Danessa or Chris a call.

Promotional Testing

First, congradulations to everyone who passed their promotional test in November, it's nice to see a decent sized group testing (and passing) from UC.
The spring promotional test will be April 2nd in Lexington. I encourage everyone eligable to test, even if you don't feel like you're ready. There's about a month left to prepare, and it's always a pleasant surprise how quickly people can improve when they have a goal set firmly in their mind. If there is a question of rides, contact Danessa.
Hope to see you all there!
